The internet is a very interesting place, full of dreams and reality. Most of what people get sold about the internet is a pipe dream. So why have a website unless it will make you money???
But the real question is how will a website make you money? I guess it all depends on what path you want to take. The 'get rich quick' or the sure and steady.
The get rich quick path is a myth. It's a path riddled with short cuts that are really much longer and don't lead to the goal. The sure and steady path is rooted in tested business principles. Offer high quality at a fair price and stick to it. Innovate to provide more with less time commitment. Leverage technology to provide more to your clients. Exceed their expectations on all fronts.
Honestly, I find it quite disturbing that companies will represent pipe dreams as reality.
Recently I saw a company that was selling the story that people love to receive email campaigns. It doesn't take a PHD in marketing to know that junk mail is not a positive thing to most people. And associating yourself with male enhancement pills and pirated software is never a good move for any professional. Yet, there are companies pitching that to agents and telling them that their prospects will love them for it!
It all comes back to four key elements:
- Can you get people to your website?
- Once they get there will they be able to easily navigate to the information they are seeking?
- Does your website allow prospects/clients to research potential properties without leaving your website?
- Does your website establish you as an authority in your prospect's eyes?
And those elements are sequential. If they don't get to your website you know they won't become a client because of your website.
